Riverside fosters the love and enjoyment of an active lifestyle by encouraging students to participate in competitive and non-competitive sports whether it be at local or international level. The school has a proud history of outstanding sporting achievements, particularly at Metropolitan North level and is currently Champion Girls School in swimming and athletics.

Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports of their choosing.

We also participate in knock out competitions in gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, netball, soccer, futsal, waterpolo, softball, hockey, tennis, touch football, triathlon, equestrian events, rowing and skiing.

Compulsory school sport is integrated into the PE program for Years 7 and 8 students. Who also participate in a week long swimming, survival, lifesaving and resuscitation program.

Year 9 and 10 are offered leadership positions within these programs in the form of coaching and umpiring.

Year 9 students have the opportunity to participate in a range of recreational activities and also have the opportunity to represent the school in a zone grade sport competition. Year 10 participate in recreational and leisure activities that promote participation in lifelong physical and social activities.

To further extend our high performing athletes, we encourage participation in international events. Trips to Hawaii provide students with the opportunity to play sport against schools across the world, with international success for the netball team in 2013. We will be heading to Hawaii again in 2016 for volleyball and netball.

Our Volleyball Program

Volleyball has become a leading sport at Riverside Girls. We train from yr 8, culminating in a team from yr 11 competing in the Australian Schools Volleyballl Cup every December in Melbourne.

The amount of opportunities you get here are seriously endless, especially if you want to take up a new sport like I have with both trampolining and orienteering. Year 9 Student.
